Terms of use
Last updated 17 October 2026: the free credits a new account starts with.
Chatty Chad was called LrC Buddy until October 2026.
These are the terms for using Chatty Chad: the website, the Lightroom Classic plug-in, the desktop window and the service behind them. By creating an account you agree to them.
What it is
Chatty Chad sends your instructions, a preview of the photo and its Develop settings to the third-party AI services that power it, and applies the edits they propose inside Adobe Lightroom Classic. It is an early release, offered as it is, for a small number of photographers.
Your photos stay yours
You keep every right to your photos and to the edits. We claim none. We store what the privacy page describes, to run and improve the service, and for nothing else.
What you agree to
- Use it only with photos you have the right to edit.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself and tell us if it is compromised.
- Do not try to get at other people's data or to disrupt the service.
- Follow Adobe's terms for Lightroom Classic, which we are not part of.
Edits, undo and backups
Every edit is a step in Lightroom's own History and can be undone there. Still, the AI can be wrong, the plug-in can have bugs, and Lightroom can behave in ways we did not foresee. Keep your catalogue backed up. We are not liable for lost or damaged work, to the extent the law lets us say so.
Free credits to start
A new account gets 50 free credits once its email address is confirmed, so you can try Chatty Chad on your own photos before choosing a plan. No card is needed.
- They are given once per person and once per email address. Addresses that differ only by a “+” tag (you+lightroom@…), or for Gmail by dots, count as one address; an address that has had them, including one whose account was deleted, does not get them again.
- They have no cash value: they cannot be paid out, refunded or moved to another account.
- Whatever is left of them when you first choose a plan carries into your first paid month, and expires with that month's credits when the plan renews.
- We may change or withdraw the offer at any time, including for accounts that have not had them yet. On a day when very many accounts are opened they may arrive later, on your next visit to the site. Accounts opened to collect them more than once may be closed.
Paying for it
After the free credits, edits are paid for with credits from a monthly plan; the plans are on the pricing page. How many credits a request uses depends on how much work it takes.
- A plan is billed monthly, in advance, and renews every month until you cancel it.
- Each paid month brings that month's credits. Unused credits expire when the plan renews; they do not carry over.
- When your credits run out, editing pauses until the plan renews or you upgrade. You are never charged more than your plan. A request already under way when they run out is finished, and anything it goes over is taken from the next month's credits.
- An upgrade takes effect at once: you pay the difference for the rest of the month, and that payment brings credits at the same rate as the plan. The higher plan's full credits come at the next renewal.
- A downgrade or a cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for.
- If a renewal payment fails, the credits left from the month before expire, and the new month's credits come once the payment goes through.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. While billing is in test mode (the site says so), no card is charged.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from your account page; the privacy page says what that removes and what is kept. Deleting cancels an active plan at once, without a refund for the rest of the month. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or close the service altogether, with notice by mail where we can give it.
Changes
We may change these terms; the date at the top says when. Changes that matter are announced by mail to account holders.
