How it works
A small window that sits beside Lightroom and works on the photo in front of you.
Open it on a photo
Select a photo in Lightroom Classic and press Control-B (or File › Plug-in Extras › Open Chatty Chad). The window opens beside it.
Say what you want
“Less contrast in the sky.” “Make it feel like evening.” “Is the horizon straight?” To show it a spot, mark it on the photo.
Keep it, or undo it
Each change is a named step in Lightroom's History, and the photo updates as you watch. Undo one step, or go back to where you started.
What it can do
It works in the Develop panels you already know, by their own names, and keeps every value inside Lightroom's limits.
Basic
White balance, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, texture, clarity, dehaze, vibrance, saturation.
Tone Curve
The parametric curve and its three splits.
HSL / Color and Color Grading
Hue, saturation and luminance per colour; shadows, midtones and highlights graded.
B&W
Black and white and back, with the eight-colour mix.
Detail and Effects
Sharpening, noise reduction and the post-crop vignette.
Masks
Subject, Sky, Background, people and landscape parts, linear and radial gradients, luminance ranges, each with its own sliders.
Crop
Aspect, angle and straightening; a look at the whole frame with the crop outlined; back to the full image.
Profile
Adobe's profiles and the ones you installed, on raw files.
Lens Corrections and Transform
Profile corrections, chromatic aberration, Upright (Auto, Full, Level, Vertical) and the Transform sliders.
Calibration
The shadows tint and the red, green and blue primaries.
Colour readings
Lab and RGB values at spots on the photo, as hovering in Develop shows them, including points you mark.
How it was taken
Camera, lens, exposure and capture time, and with GPS, where the sun was.
Left to you: brushing, healing and Generative Remove stay in your hands.
Edit faster, and learn as you go
It does the slider work, shows you what it did, and gives you a second opinion when you want one.
It saves you time
- One sentence moves every slider the look needs, across as many panels as it takes.
- Follow-ups stay short: “a bit less on the sky” adjusts the mask it already made.
- It knows the photo: the colour at spots you mark, the camera and lens, the exposure and, with GPS, where the sun was.
It teaches as it goes
- The window lists every slider it moved, from what to what, and it tells you why.
- Ask “What would you change?” and it answers in words. It edits only when you ask, and a crop it suggests is drawn on the photo first.
- Each change is its own named step in History, so you can step back through the edit and see how the look was built.
